And also this one, bc it turns out anger rumination (at least in a college sample measured with the ARS), also ends up zero-inflated and looking like a count variable. This was all part of the nerdiest, long-distance crafts night possible with @clearlab.bsky.social 😆 #stats #PsychSciSky

I drew this 10 years ago, when
modeling a lot of zero-inflated poisson models (common for behaviors where a chunk of the sample are total abstainers), to explain it to non stats-y folks. Technically I think this is a hurdle model, since the distributions should overlap slightly, but close enough.

Felt really good, in the grander context of everything feeling so terrible, to be part of the energized crowd marching around the statehouse in Providence. Feels even better seeing millions of people showing up across the county in spite of right-wing and state sanctioned violence. #nokings

As someone with chronic illness/invisible disability, I so appreciate platforming @diekmanmdjd.bsky.social and this topic. These issues are so (ironically) under acknowledged and often poorly supported in medicine, which can trickle down to inadequate understanding/support for patients too. 3/x

Haven’t posted about this much here, but I’m an avid native plant gardener. This American Painted Lady butterfly who visited yesterday right next to a patch of pussytoes, one of the few plants their caterpillars can eat, is why. Having nature right outside my door is incredible.

Andy and I went to the excellent Verzets (WWII Resistance) Museum in Amsterdam yesterday, 1/20/25. It hit hard anyway (especially as a grandchild of survivors), but felt all the more distressingly salient given events in the US. I cried. Andy summarizes some of the key takeaways we had below.

Andy and I went to the excellent Verzets (WWII Resistance) Museum in Amsterdam yesterday, 1/20/25. It hit hard anyway (especially as a grandchild of survivors), but felt all the more distressingly salient given events in the US. I cried. Andy summarizes some of the key takeaways we had below.

I’m the aforementioned native plant nerd wife of @fuckingexhausted.bsky.social :) Grass/sedge faves include little bluestem (pictured), bottlebrush grass, plantain-leaved sedge, and (if you’ve got space for something taller/larger) switchgrass. And violets will spread and are easy to transplant!

Possibly the flip side of that, sensitivity to ovulatory surges in E2 often results in greater happiness and wellbeing; however, for some, this increased positive affect/reward sensitivity can facilitate substance misuse, risky behavior, and other forms of positive urgency. 7/🧵
