With budget concerns looming, it’s time to expect more from publishers and edtech companies. We can’t afford to waste time or money on ineffective products. Our teachers deserve better. Our students deserve better.

In math, this issue is critical. Falling behind early, often as early as 3rd grade, means students rarely catch up. No matter how engaging or innovative a teaching approach may seem, if the system allows students to get off track and never re-enter the learning pipeline, we are failing them. 3/3

If all teaching methods were as effective as claimed, classroom performance would align with state, national, and international assessments—but it doesn’t. Grade inflation is real, and a few strong years in that 13yr journey don’t guarantee after high school success. 2/3
