Sure, the King's English (he is!), but proper English is the Queen's: clearly-enunciated, a bit clipped, starched to an inch of its life, and a reminder of a bygone era. If it was the King's, it would be well-meaning, a bit burbly, drooping at the edges, and not so much starched as richly-fruited.

...are there any good #SFF stories out there that folks could recommend that tackle MM/FF monarchs in the context of hereditary/dynastic monarchy? This feels really interesting to me (and then there's the question of "why monarchy-as-default?", which also needs exploring...) Recommendations?
