I teach mythology, and every time my kids say “I lowkey wanna…” I say stuff like “I know Loki is a shapeshifter, but I don’t believe you’re him,” or “Loki probably would be into that,” or “I know Loki is cool, but what about Thor or Freya for a change.”
It is slowly breaking them. 😈

I always think of "I don't have kids, so why should I pay taxes for schools?"
Well, do you like living in a society that at least somewhat functions? That why everyone needs to pay for public schools.

Honestly, this is so incredibly profound. It cuts to the core of conservatism and the fundamental misery and insecurity that drives it.

Everything medical in this country is such a hustle. Go PCP for a referral, go to a specialist, go get tests (because the specialist doesn't do them), go back to specialist for results, get offered treatment that is unaffordable, and each one of those is a co-pay.

It’s an awesome set. I was so worried that they weren’t going to release it in the US that I bought the 4k set Arrow’s UK when it first came out.

It's deliciously ironic that a guy like "Mr. Suave," who undoubtedly believes his "nice guy" moves, despite their very low success rate, make him a real prize, thinks a woman will be irresistibly attracted to a man who is kind, charming, or engages with them respectfully (i.e. a guy who is suave).

Not to add to the doomerism, but the reason for that is for decades, many leaders on the left have failed to meet the moment, are only slightly less bought & paid for than those on the right, or lack the ability to unite the people. We need someone who people can see as an actual admirable leader.

For many it becomes a question of fairness. “I had to pay for it so why shouldn’t they?” The correct answer is “that was wrong too, & you should be compensated.” Then you get “how you going pay for it?” The answer is “Like everything else. The US is $30T in debt. We don’t really pay for anything.”

They are inherently selfish people. Even non-fascist conservatives typically have a “me and mine first/only” attitude. This is why they are so willing to cut off their nose to spite their face when it comes to social programs that might help them but will help others just a little bit more.
