Finally got a bit of time on my hands this weekend so I've started working on some breathers for my skelly-person :D

Managed to get the low poly muscle mesh and skelly each down to about 3.4K triangles.

The outer layer will sit at ~4K and then I'll use ~2K or so for the internal stuff which should put the total at ~15K tris, leaving some room for clothes and hair before I hit 20K 🤔 #blender #gamedev #indiedev

After 20+ years of making art for games I find that the most satisfying thing about making something solely for yourself is that no one stops you, and tells you "hey that detail is unnecessary" or "No one in their right mind would notice this". High poly #3D muscle mesh is mostly done, started experimenting with procedural materials based on dynamic thickness, curvature and cavity maps done via Geometry Nodes in #Blender.

The muscle fiber setup was done via Blender Geometry nodes with two overlapping sine wave deforms at different frequencies.

I ended up doing a simple normal map bake to add some detailing in the form of muscle fibers rather then sculpting the whole thing. #blender #gamedev

Muscle mesh is slowly getting there, after that I just need to setup a layer for fat deposits, possibly a layer for major arteries as well 🤔
