This is right across the border in Mexico. I walk past it every time I’m coming back across the border, and it makes me giggle every time because I am 12.

If you didn’t know: there are a lot of wild turkeys in the East Bay.

In an uncharacteristic display of extreme self control, I only bought 9 books while in the Bay Area!

Now reading. I already know the title story, but I’m excited to see the rest.

Fuck the Dodgers forever and ever, amen.

I've heard about a trick for preventing AI-based plagiarism by adding some absurd instruction in white text to the end of the assignment sheet. Decided to give it a trial run. And hey, it did it.

Just before the World Series started, ESPN posted a headline declaring the Dodgers might be "unbeatable." A week later, they posted a headline declaring that their ENTIRE LINEUP has "looked off all postseason long."
What's really hilarious about it is that they're from articles BY THE SAME WRITER.

Blue Jays! Game 5! Let’s goooooo!

LOL, ESPN. This held up for about 5 innings of Game 1...sorta cause even by that point it was tied.

Fun day of class today.

Go Blue Jays, BEAT LA!

I posted earlier about the book I was starting. But I just realized I messed up the order — and yes I’m very OCD about the order in which I read books.
So actually, I’ll be reading — or rather rereading — this. I decided to reread Wheel of Time after the tv adaptation was canceled.

Today is another day when I’m discussing information literacy with my Comp 2 students. Today: the basics of how Wikipedia works.

The funny thing with this one is— I was assigned this book in 10th grade English, but when I started at the school (I moved mid-year), the class was already halfway done with it, so I never finished. Just now getting around to it, a few months shy of 30 years (!?) later.

Now reading. After this, I’ll have read all of Achebe’s novels.

The last few years, I've been really leaning into lessons on media & information literacy in my Comp 2 classes. I'm adding a couple new ones this semester, including one where I want to talk about recognizing garbage data & studies. Here's a fun example I just found.
