Strictly economically speaking...I think we are sleepwalking into a deep equity drawdown/crash. The nexus of complacency and ineptitude is not a fun place for markets. My take: The knee jerk will be to buy bonds and buy the dollar. The lasting move will be to sell bonds and sell the dollar.

On claims, Thanksgiving is weird b/c it floats, so it doesn't quite always line up across years. With that in mind, initial claims look entirely consistent with past years on both a headcount (left) & normalized (center) basis. Continuing claims (right) however are a touch high.

My piece this week on the debanking boom. Some complaints are not in good faith, especially from the crypto industry (an actual pit of money laundering). But the broader phenomenon is real, and partly a result of a booming bank compliance industry.
