A Eurorack modular synth delay module. It has yellow knobs with white indices, and is painted black with white icons and lines. It sits aesthetically between “engineered by hand” and “mass produced”, landing somewhere at “played like an instrument by the only engineer who uses it”. The two circuit boards for the module. The knowledgeable and sharp-eyed might notice some part swaps for those I had in stock.

This kind of design is SO satisfying. I’m making a pattern for a computer bag that fits my specs. Drawing the thing out IS thinking it out. It’s not a plan. It’s making as a way of thinking it out.

I'm gonna have stickers at the next #westernmasselectronics ! I've got some other ideas to try, but first up is this one that synthesizes (ha) the Western Electric logo with a transistor!

Might set up a store someday, but for now they'll only be available from me at the show!
This Western Mass Electronics sticker is a satire of the Western Electric logo of the Bell era, turning the bell into a transistor, and "Western Electric" into "Western Mass Electronics".

The Oblique Palette is a control panel with eight analog knob inputs and eight analog (and servo!) outputs. It has little blinky lights to tell you the voltage level you're communicating on each channel. Not shown: the plugdata patch that controls these inputs and outputs, allowing you full programming control of voltage levels, sampling both the real world (either through twisting knobs or by designing controllers) and the outputs of electronic instruments, and returning programmed responses in the form of control voltage and servo rotation. It's for making computers that are for making art, fucking around, and falling in love.

The front of the device, designed to interface Eurorack (and other electronic experiments) with the plugdata patching language. There’s a row of eight output channels on top with level LEDs, female headers for Arduino/discrete electronics, and male headers for servo output. There’s are eight knobs in the bottom row, along with 3.5mm “aux” jacks and female headers. In the upper right is the Oblique Industries logo, a small bitmap portrait of Susan Kare, and “palette prototype 0.5.5”. Two huge cuts in my rear tire. It was a racing tire, so it was great — rarely skidded and could bring me to an abrupt stop without complaint. ...because it was so soft. Another huge cut in the tire. The least of four cuts, which still looks to me like a fatal wound were it in a person.
