ABD in Church History, and gainfully employed at a liquor store.
Probably reading more than I should of things that I shouldn’t.

If empathy is a sin, then I’ll see you in hell.
And what should Cory Bowman learn from this? Stick to the tried and true traditional role of the sibling of a president or vice president: lend your name to a shitty beer. (We’ll never have another Billy Beer at this rate.)

Eh, it happens.
There was a period of maybe 4 days where the only thing that could get my kid to sleep was “Alice’s Restaurant.” All 18 minutes of it.
Yes, she was a weird baby, and is possibly an even weirder 5 year old.

My 5 year old and I are frequent visitors to our local library: we’re known to the Children’s Desk as “the ones who roll up with 2 oversized Aldi bags and leave with 40+ books.”
Happy to do our part!

Fair enough. I am only speaking from what my research (under the supervision of my dissertation advisor) has taught me. (He’s a Dalit Christian from Tamil Nadu. This doesn’t put me in any way near the lived experiences of others: I only hope to help other westerners understand some of the issue.)

Knowing that Hindutva is all about caste, “Indian identity,” and cultural norms being dictated by the upper echelons of society, I understand this as inextricably rooted.
No argument from me, especially the “superiority.” (Not just to other POC, either.)

Looking back slows you down.
Also, if you’re running across a street or on a sidewalk, you’d be surprised how fast the path in front of you can change, and you end up tripping over a dog or stumbling on a curb.

To anyone still clinging to her being the child of immigrants: upper caste people are still upper caste even outside of India. And if you think Usha and/or her parents can’t be conservative: I’d encourage you to look up the Hindutva movement. (Or read about Modi.)

Ah, can’t forget that!
These people (Senators, Congressional Representatives, et al) are not our friends. A lot of people need to remember that.

I’ve been hearing “but Cory Booker” from my in-laws for a couple months now.
The don’t seem to grasp the performance that he gave, of appearing to do something when his 24 hour speaking blocked anyone with a coherent argument from talking… and then voted to confirm most of the cabinet anyway.

I have a feeling that this is what they did say, but wrapped up in Diplomacy.
Gotta love the subtext of “we know a thing or two about fascism in our country. It’s why Horst’s grandpa lives in Argentina.”

That’s… so far off it’s almost comical.
The sin wasn’t sexuality: it was going against how to treat guests in your land. (And as I type this, I realize why this person will never understand.)

Huh. And here I was thinking of the Judge as a demiurge (not necessarily a curious divine being, just more of a Gnostic “god of this world, but not its creator.”) Frankly, I like your interpretation better.

It’s… it’s Quebecois. Closer to pre 7 Year’s War French than the modern language.
I know these people are barely literate, but COME ON.

Why are you fiddling while Rome burns? Seriously, if Josh Hawley and Linsey Graham are against Section 230, that should tell you why you SHOULD support it. Do you care about the people, or your wallet? (We all know the answer, just want you to admit it.)

Maybe if you actually understood what Section 230 is and what it does, people might actually care about what you think about the Department of Education. If Josh Hawley and Lindsey Graham support it, that’s reason enough NOT to.

Absolutely. Plus, it’s a misnomer to call Israelite religion “Judaism.” Until the Second Temple was destroyed in 70CE, Judaism wasn’t a thing. Having no center of religious activity made the Pharisee path the only one.

Aretha Franklin.

For sure. So maybe: teach other traditions (I spent a couple weeks on early Chinese philosophy in my first year of undergrad, which I am just now realizing isn’t the norm) and also approach with a better sense of historiography, and to “listen for the silences,” as I was told in grad school.

A very wise person, then!
Do you know if they’ve read anything by Walzer?

Is there a doctor somewhere that could prescribe him an orgasm? I feel like there’s medical precedent for that. (Wait, no: that was just for ‘hysteria.’ Time for a new frontier in medicine, then!)

It’s moments like this that remind me that I need to reread O’Donovan.

I remember years ago finding an article theorizing that Homestarrunner was in the broader tradition of the French Theater of the Absurd. All I could think was: good for the author.

Ordering this myself.
While I hope my spouse and I can raise our daughter without these issues (I’m married to a pastor, so that’s at least covered) I know I can be a resource for my kiddo’s friends. Anything to help prepare for that is appreciated.
