And it’s this specifically that bothers men about these men, not their leftism. It’s the lack of self reflection or willingness to work on themselves, because like many right wing men, their environment often validates them for the very thing that makes them a risk to anyone vulnerable

There are a lot of left-of-center white cis men who are carrying a very dangerous sort of patriarchal rage that they have decided they’d rather just direct at social acceptable targets rather than unpack or figure out and heal from. These guys are insanely hazardous to everyone around them.

I’m not saying anyone has to believe anything is possible or not. I don’t actually spend much time ruminating on this one… but I’m skeptical of any line of thought that tells us to limit our field of view of what’s possible as a species, and I’m skeptical of the motives of people who proliferate it.

I obviously have my biases and they’re slanted against anyone saying “this is impossible and will never happen” because there are so many things in history that were believed to be impossible before some unforeseen corner was turned and remade how we understood things.

In the same pile as all my other unwritten ones.

Whether or not it’s possible or will ever happen is irrelevant for the purposes of this. I just think how big our view of what’s possible in the future vs how small is a direct reflection of how optimistic we are about that future in general.

Can’t wait for the “it’s okay, we’ll just finish what you started with AI, without your consent” to become widespread.
