Bucks co-founder Wes Pavalon entertained a bid to help the Expos survive back in 1968 after some early turbulence. It led to some speculation that he was doing it to bring an MLB franchise back to Milwaukee, which he wasn't too happy about.

The Hawks were a losing team and once the Braves came to Milwaukee, they took any shine away from Kerner's Hawks. The Hawks moved to St. Louis when they were forced out of Milwaukee Arena.

In the months leading up to Milwaukee landing what became the Bucks, they had an unlikely champion: Ben Kerner.

Ben Kerner was the chairman of the NBA's expansion committee. He also owned the Hawks, who played in Milwaukee from 1951-1955.
