TI also understood my obsession w/forensics, an outgrowth of nearly 30 years of reporting on wrongful convictions (my first such story was published back in 1998, in case you’re building a timeline). Over the years I’ve been able to write about all manner of junk science (we see you, bite marks)

Liliana was also the ed behind an investigation I did into a crazy case out of Las Vegas involving a woman named Blaise Lobato. My investigation prompted the Innocence Project to get involved. Lobato was ultimately exonerated & last year awarded millions by a federal jury for her wrongful conviction

When TI was just starting out in 2014, Liliana was my editor & she encouraged me to continue reporting on Rodney Reed, whose death penalty case I had been covering since 2001. The first story I wrote about the case for TI netted the fledgling organization its first award

Liliana & I launched the pod in 2018, digging into a disturbing wrongful conviction case in GA involving a man named Devonia Inman. Inman was ultimately exonerated. The elected DA said he listened to our podcast as part of the research that led him to dismiss the charges against Inman

Speaking of Glossip, our first collab was writing about his case in 2015. Ppl knew him from the SCOTUS LI case, but few knew about the underlying facts of his conviction until we came along & it was our coverage that helped make Glossip a household name. Ask Joe Berlinger, he’ll back us up on this

I am proud to have spent the last 11 years w/ TI, doing award-winning — & life-changing — investigations into claims of wrongful conviction & the use (and misuse) of forensic science. My work at TI directly contributed to three exonerations (for a current total of six).
