Along with whatever the living heck this monstrosity is.

It came some sort of weird shoe contraption that I flat out refused to take a photo of because it felt like I was being rage-baited.

Anyway, so far some of the things I noticed during my trip to #velofollies yesterday 👋

Not specifically a rider's bike, but the Van Rysel stand had the official team bike on display
January 17, 2026 at 5:57 PM
They also had the yellow jersey edition on show
January 17, 2026 at 5:56 PM
And of course at Colnago, there was Pogi's bike
January 17, 2026 at 5:55 PM
There were also bikes that were clean/new but still strongly associated with a particular rider. Like this S-Works one on the SRAM stand that has all but Remco's name on it.

That one in particular was a real magnet for ageing cycling aficionados who swarmed it while I presume explaining how exactly they would excel at Unbound.
January 17, 2026 at 5:52 PM
And on the Ridley stand, there was this one with the Unbound race tag on it.

There was this Canyon Inflight with 🌈 paint job that was clearly intended to evoque MVDP, even though absolutely nothing tells us it was actually his bike.

Kinda ironic that this company was promoting some sort of bike washing station, because a big thing at #velofollies was: Dirty bikes!
January 17, 2026 at 5:45 PM
Also from the Eddy Merckx stand is this titanium one that I think looks rather lovely
January 17, 2026 at 5:43 PM
Although when it comes to "let's just scribble anything on the bike" this one from the Eddy Merckx stand takes the cake.

Although I should point out that in this case it's a prototype of a 3D printed bike so that's kinda different.
January 17, 2026 at 5:42 PM
Also popular: let's give the kids some crayons and let them go to work on the frame.

(Also from the SRAM stand)

More of the "more is more" school of paint jobs. This time a Cervélo although if memory serves me right, it was taken at the SRAM stand.
January 17, 2026 at 5:38 PM
Whatever this is supposed to be gave me flashbacks to the bodge of a paint job Cy from GCN did on the fork of his fixie.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of the "anyone can splash some paint on" approach
January 17, 2026 at 5:34 PM
Also. Since we had an example of a bad slogan, here's a great one courtesy of DT Swiss
January 17, 2026 at 5:32 PM
This on the other hand 🤔
What's the message here? This bike sucks for riding on sand?
January 17, 2026 at 5:29 PM
Not all marketing is bad of course. I genuinely liked this image which featured prominently on the Scott stand

Comic Sans?
In this economy?
January 17, 2026 at 5:26 PM
Speaking of questionable marketing 🫣
January 17, 2026 at 5:25 PM
Sometimes companies try too hard to come up with catchy slogans or marketing copy, or perhaps something is lost in translation. But this just makes no sense to me.
January 17, 2026 at 5:24 PM
Still kinda boggles my mind that a company can sell what looks to be the cheapest hazmat suit possible, but heat training is a thing and Core is pretty much synonym for that.
January 17, 2026 at 5:22 PM
This is a lock that you lock and unlock with an app on your phone. Hard pass. You do you, but not for me.
January 17, 2026 at 5:20 PM
I'm not an MTB guy, but I just can't wrap my head around the gearing on some of these bikes.

Look at the chainring/cassette combo on this one. I get the idea of having a bike that in principle allows you to ride up a vertical wall, but I just don't understand how that could ever work in practice
January 17, 2026 at 5:18 PM
These are so popular, it is very hard to get your hands on one.

Here's a pic of mine in the #velofollies bike park. I was lucky because it's a 2XL frame. Those are less quick to sell out.

That saddle is not original and costs 40% of the entire bike, which says a lot of the bang for buck you get
