#1 Mamá's Magnificent Dancing Plantitas written by Jesús Trejo and illustrated by Eliza Kinkz. SO relatable as the kid that was appointed as the plant caregiver while mom was out. I loved how the plants had their own personalities that matched their food/watering needs!

#2 Umami written and illustrated by Jacob Grant. For the little foodies in your life! Such a cool, approachable book to encourage readers to explore new tastes and senses.

Not from this year, but Lian Cho also illustrated Adam Rex's Oh No, the Aunts are Here. I read this as a read aloud right before winter break during a grade school reading support program and the kids were all begging to take it home. Grown ups and kids were laughing the whole way through.
