This is a great post from Damian unpacking something that annoys a lot of people!
One thing to note is the line about difficulties of insourcing - council chose (without consulting local
Boards) to sell off AIMS which was council-owned parks and rec. can’t say we have seen the benefit of this since
With nearly half our local board budget allocated to maintenance, you’d expect us to have good oversight and control over the $14M spend but unfortunately this hasn’t been the case. But there’s hope!

If Labour want to try and co-opt Mamdani's style without any of the substance, at least do it right?

You need to translate to the typographic vernacular of the bodega sign into its New Zealand equivalent.

This land used to house 52 senior citizens, is still owned by KO and zoned for THAB. No, a night market is not the best use for this space

Fun question, which electorate has the most train stations and urban rail service in New Zealand?
-
A: Epsom, with 7, serving every line on Auckland’s Metro network:
Newmarket
Parnell
Grafton
Maungawhau
Remuera
Orakei
Greenlane (just)
-
Karanga-a-Hape and Meadowbank catchments reach into Epsom too

Puketāpapa Local Board mtg - C&R chair ignores staff advice on part of an amendment being direct negative (not allowed) & they vote down attempt by City Vision members to speak up for community on safer speeds. Nonsense amendment passed 4 to 2 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nice public space linking Myers park, the stunning Waimahara artwork w Aotea Square or... a surface carpark? (right next to a 1000 space underground carpark) 🤔 Perhaps just a safe ,legible & wide pathway as a start? We should be planning for this now for when the 2 year WaterCare project winds up
