Teaching my eldest Rebellion: of of my favorites!

Really glad I started setting up Envelopes of Cash well ahead of game night...

Found some time to focus on design. Trying out a new approach wherein my prototype board is also my notebook. So far so good, actually!

For my mental health, I forced myself to sit down and do some solo testing on Rattleskull Inne.

Not my idea, but I created 3 "persona" cards so that each "player" could have their own style and to make the mental load easier for me. I highly recommend this approach!

Final (hopefully) quality check on Burned before we can start the first edition in earnest!

Thanks to @sowronggames.bsky.social for the shout-out!

Burned is indeed planning for a release later this year!

3-handed solo testing of Rattleskull Inne. All "working" and probably ready to put in front of humans again

Running through the Night Soil Solo mode to test the board layout. Nearly got overwhelmed by waste in round 2

This little game I've been working on since 2018 will be on KS next week!

Got Night Soil to the table in all it's pre-production glory!
April 11, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Blinging out my Rattleskull Inne prototype with 3D printed tankards as player pieces because it makes me happy and because I can

Holy crap! I am now holding the pre-production copy of Night Soil!

I am so fracking excited!

Found some mental bandwidth for actual game design this morning!

So far it's a sorta area control auction thing themed around buying people drinks in a 1700s pub to win votes

After waiting on backorder for 3 months then on my shelf for 1, I finally got to try El Grande last night.

I did not play well, but this is really cool, straightforward, and nicely confrontational. Really eager to play again!

Some great games start looking like this.

Also, some games die on the vine right here.

All part of the process

I guess Boardgame Bluesky is doing shelfies?

In the middle of some reorganization but here's mine.

For those who care: it's orgsnized by player count

"Accessibility? Is that one of those young'un buzzwords? Microscopic black text on purple is fine!"

Playing Oceans.

Shhhhh! Nobody sees me behind all the ink!

Game design today: messing around with a bag-draw method for gaining income. I apparently stumbled upon some weird mathematically stable thing rhat I really don't understand. Oh well, there's no requirement that I can solve the equation as long as it works in the game!

Playtesters found an infinite loop in Blood & Mead last night. Nobody knows how to break a game like Magic: the Gathering players...

Been banging away at an idea to combine my old Pirates of the Spanish Maine ships with the cool templates from X-wing

Whenever you see design journals like: "I had this awesome idea and my family loved it and I worked hard and a year later it was signed!"

Remember all creatives work differently and different creative works have their own timelines

This design here has been in the works for literally 20 years.

Brewing today. Probably the most complicated recipe I have ever made! Boiled malt wort, carmelized honey, boiled cherries!

Got Night Soil prototype to the table to test alternative power tiles. I think I'm very close to the level of variance I want them to add to the core experience
