The updated 20th anniversary edition of Highbury N5 has just been released and looks (and feels) fantastic. If anyone would like a signed copy I can meet you outside Area S before or after the Forest match on Saturday. Let me know!!! #Arsenal #COYG

I enjoyed writing about some evocative photos from #ARSCRY in 1980 at Highbury. I especially like this one. If I'm not mistaken, the lady in shades is also at the front of the NB pointing at Sammy Nelson's butt in the famous photo of him pulling his shorts down. #Arsenal #COYG

Delighted that Go To War: Football On The Brink In The '80s has been shortlisted for Football Book Of The Year 2025. Results to be announced in early May!!

Morning #Arsenal fans. In today’s programme, I focus on this evocative photo from the ‘30s of the Gunners walking wounded after the infamous England v Italy clash. It was very much a Gunners occasion…. #COYG

@favlit.org - I'm really looking forward to Friday 28th February at 6.00, where I'll be talking about my new book Go To War: Football On The Brink In The '80s at the Old Brewery Store, as part of the 2025 Literary Festival.

In today’s #ARSAVL programme, I focus on this atmospheric photo of Ted Drake, completing laps of Highbury on a misty afternoon, a week after netting an astonishing 7 goals at Villa Park. #Arsenal #COYG

I signed a few of these at Bluewater Waterstones yesterday, if you're passing and looking for a new year football history fix. And let's face it, why wouldn't you be? They're in the hardback section, right next to Jeff Stelling. Not literally.

In this afternoon's #ARSMUN programme, I focus on just why champion jockey Gordon Richards was 'donkey-derbying' it at Highbury in 1928..... #Arsenal #COYG

Sea view in Whitstable just now. Hope the view is better at the Emirates tonight. #Arsenal #COYG #ARSIPS

Looking for a spot of ‘70s, ‘80s or #Arsenal related literary football action for Christmas? I’ve just signed some copies of Get It On, Go To War and Highbury at
@Foyles on Charing Cross Road, if you happen to be in London….

In today’s #ARSEVE programme, I write about a photo taken just before the first game of the 1936-37 season at Highbury v Everton, when you could still queue for tickets. Smartly dressed little fellas at the back would be well into their 90s now. #Arsenal #COYG

In tonight’s #ARSMON programme, I write about the effect which the elite Clairefontaine academy had on #Arsenal - here in the photo you can see captain courageous himself - Gallas - and Thierry Henry with Trezeguet on right. Anelka another graduate. Enjoy! #COYG dl-mail.ymail.com/ws/download/...

In the latest edition of the @theblizzard.bsky.social you can read an extract from my new book Go To War: Football On The Brink In The ‘80s. It focuses on Thatcher, tear gas, Admiral kits and Kevin Keegan at the almost forgotten 1980 European Championships.

I wrote about this classic #ARSMANU pic from August ‘73 in the programme tonight. We won 3-0 that day. Despite putting the feelers out I never did find out who the Ziggy Stardust lookalike really is. Reckon he must be 70ish now. #COYG #Arsenal

A good solid win tonight in what might have been a tricky game - we’re cooking again nicely. Onwards and upwards. #Arsenal #COYG #ARSMUN

Love this photo of the crowd at Highbury in 1913 - the hats, the pipes, the taches. Sad to think that so many of these fellas - just #Arsenal fans like many of us - would have been in the trenches a year later. I wrote about the photo in the Forest programme last weekend. #COYG

Pondering what to buy the football fan(s) in your life for #Christmas ? How about a double blast of Go To War, the new inside story of football in the turbulent '80s, and its prequel, the bestselling Get It On: How The '70s Rocked Football? #1980s #80s #1970s #70s #books
