I had many cases mild surprise, but "Torn" and "Step On" were the two that really floored me.

I love the movie and part of it is that Isaac is such a great singer.

And one last one. #xpncountdown.

And I was right about these, except maybe the Clash. #xpncountdown

I feel like I have a shot at having 3 one-vote wonders.

Catherine Wheel - The Spirit of Radio (my No. 2)
Oscar Isaac - The Death of Queen Jane (my No. 4)
Frightened Rabbit - Surrender (my No. 6)

You're right! I was fooled by the now playing gizmo on the website.

I take it back.

OMG, I forgot about Nouvelle Vague. They have some great covers.

I always wished they would play No. 886-890 after the countdown ends.

The five songs that just missed (and should have been in because they let the likes of Brandi Carlisle's "Black Hole Sun" slide.) #xpncountdown
btw I want the outlier list for the #xpncountdown - any song that got any vote but didn’t make the 885

I am very disappointed that so few (I think none?) AV Undercover songs made it. There were some incredible covers in that series, many of them done by GWAR.

You are not kidding. This has been great.

Yes. And that recording of Joan Osborne appears in it.

Years later, they posted a different version that makes it clear he just tossed it into the crowd. youtu.be/dWRCooFKk3c?... #xpncountdown

Shoutout to "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" if you haven't seen it. #xpncountdown

Forgot about that one.

We are extremely unlikely to hear any Doughty on this #xpncountdown but I enjoy his versions of "The Gambler" (my No. 13) and "King of Carrot Flowers."

See also that Elliott Smith cover of "Thirteen" we just heard.

It's nice and all, but it's one of the greatest? Really?

I think it's extremely plausible that we're looking at the top 5 right there. But my money is still on Buckley, since it strikes me as more cross-generation than the others.
