@ballxpit.com it’s a bit too hard for my 6yo but he really likes watching me and deciding my upgrades. He’s also been building and playing in his imagination. Also the other kids in his class have no idea what he’s talking about. Anyways, here’s his builds

I don’t mean to brag but I’m kinda awesome at naming stuff.

Beetle with a horn: Narweedle
ABCs caterpillar: Ellemenopede the alphabetapillar

#Kamloops had a little #wildfire this weekend that was quickly brought under control 🙏🏼

1st image is what LensVx shows for the potential growth of that fire (assuming no action taken and burning for 8h)

2nd image is if it starts on June 29, 2021 (peak heat dome).

We use a white base for better data viz in LensVx, but it makes placing ignition points a little tricky. So we've added two extra layers: Canada wide fuel, and a satellite layer. The fuel layer let's you see the underlying fuel types while the satellite layer gives some context. #wildfire

We built Lens so the public could better see the effects of wildfire and hopefully become better prepared. This gif shows the deadly fire in Manitoba and it's rapid growth.

Interact with it yourself: lens.pathandfocus.com?endDate=2025... or explore other current or past fires in Canada #wildfire

@kamscan.bsky.social lots of black smoke coming from West of Kamloops/Pineview. Maybe truck on fire on the highway?

Welp, we started adding some legends to our fire growth outputs and realized that we were only using half of the colour palette. We should have mapped fire intensity to a scale of -1 to 1 instead we only mapped from 0 to 1 and missed the entire yellow portion of the palette.

I also have a sick indoor trainer bike that I wheel up to this for big indoor rides to movies

7 days in Cancun as our first family tropical vacation. We hit perfect weather, and a lot of new experiences for our 6yo.

My ai #weather data dashboard now has a map and can do some cool stuff.

Here I've provided an english query for a rolling average temp on the 2 months on either side of the highest temp day.

I spent a good chunk of time the last few weeks writing a 500+ line duckdb sql query to calculate 12 nearest station distance interpolated weather values AND hourly fire weather indices.

What a beast! Now to rip it all apart and maybe do less in the query.

It works! My silly simple kids savings/finance tracking app. Teach kids about compounding interest by logging deposits to the Bank of [Caring Adult]. No styling and no way for another user to use it yet, but I'm pleased with the results so far.

Calcs interest earned to date, today (or any day).

The x-axis was irritating me, so I fixed it. Now the LLM will tell me what field types are being selected so I can dynamically inform the charting library. If I ask for hourly or daily calculations it works.

Today’s Facebook marketplace scammer didn’t get it. Was I not obvious enough?

Or more complex calculations like evaporative demand index or microclimate complexity index.

This is super fun and still needs some polish but it seems to work.

Anyone in the #weather or #meteorology interested in this?

Next, I've added AI powered queries and crude graphing. Ask for a #weather analysis or index and get it generated for you.

Simple stuff like the daily average temperature or slightly more complex like daily diurnal temp range. Or #agricultural indexes like growing degree days

I've been tinkering on a side project. Mainly learning about data engineering but also exploring ideas about #weather #dataviz.

What I have so far: a serverless (static in fact) interactive web app showing hourly temperature graph for every station in Canada for all recorded history.

So @porkbun.com will just give you a CSV of your domains with the renewal prices included. I'm saving nearly $500/y (64%) for my 15 domains.

Second time on my new KICKR bike. 15% grade hills (even short) are no joke.

Is use these tp-link Kasa things, but no strong preference. They were on sale and work with HomeKit and I like the tp-link routers
November 18, 2024 at 2:23 AM
Ya. Smart plug that is home kit compatible. Then I made a super simple shortcut in the shortcut app to toggle it. Raycast exposes all shortcuts so it just type ⌘+Space then “heat”.

This gets the state of the plug (bool), if it’s on (true) it turns off, else turn it on
