Some great developments but also a couple of really disappointing schemes on the cards more recently.

OK, now on to the political asks that we had worked on. We had 5 asks that we put to the Mayor.

There remains a sense that Hackney has lost its way on delivery post pandemic. Whilst schemes are

@meghillier.bsky.social has tabled 8 amendments to the Bus Services bill. All 8 relate to cycle tracks around bus stops. None relate to motor vehicles.
It goes against Hackney Councils own guidance by calling for an outright ban.

Fully protected cycleways enable children, older people and those with mobility impairments to ride safely. Removing that is unthinkable.

This was the scene locally in Hackney on Saturday. A small child was hit by a driver whilst cycling on the pavement next to a school. She sustained a serious injury.

Workshops all done and now we are wrapping the day with a discussion on delivery and the changing political landscape with an advent of right wing populism and conspiracies. Excellent discussion with @rezinachowdhury.bsky.social and @anna4labour.bsky.social

Lots of great examples of delivered schemes in the UK.
He makes clear that network level planning means LTNs or whatever you want to call them are ESSENTIAL. You can't deliver everything via bike lanes.

Next up, is the brilliant @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social giving an engineering perspective. He is showing us the importance of protected space for people on bikes

If your council does not have #schoolstreets why not? Seriously? Massive benefits for all.

Final talk before lunch. The immense @mumsforlungs.bsky.social campaign represented by Jemima. Air pollution remains a hugely unequal issue in our cities. Lower income families overly represented to suffer from the effects of poor air. It's a justice issue. #Labour

Such an important campaign. Well worth a follow @solveschoolrun.bsky.social The data on what happens when schools are out is shocking. Multi problematic having 7million cars involved in school run per day ##LabourWalksCycles25

Her campaign is data led with some startling statistics

We have heard from Liz Clements in Birmingham and MP Scott Arthur in Edinburgh on their respective city plans. Both well on the way in terms of transition but equally difficult to deliver with opposition

Right I'll do a little bit of reporting from today's #LabourWalksCycles25 event in Leicester. We've kicked off with Geoff Whittle, assistant Mayor who has inspired us with what the city has been up to in terms of change.

Up bright and early to Leicester for @labourwalkscycles.bsky.social conference. Let 2025 be the year that we remember that Labour was elected for 'Change'

Cities full of cycle parking for all are quick and easy wins. If your neighbourhood doesn't have any, ask your council why not? #Hackney
