I recently rewatched it for homework reasons, and while the “Just Say No” stuff hasn’t aged well, the kernel of the story is still compelling. Along with Merritt Butrick’s nuanced portrayal of addiction, you also get Judson Scott’s smarmy, slimy dealer. Two TWOK alums in one TNG!

As a lapsed trumpet player, I’ve always loved the cornet solo of the TOS theme that closes the film.
Yep, still love this film. An underrated classic.

I like that this movie essentially has two climaxes: the escape from Genesis, and the Mount Seleya sequence.

As I mentioned upthread, I like that the script has Kirk learn what happened to Spock and McCoy organically, rather than having him just *know*. #TSFSposting
