The designs and biology are based on the Pearlfish. Known to be sometimes commensal, or even parasitic and live within Bivalves and other deep sea creatures.

The idea was to create a more directly visually inspired evolution, but then make it the disconnected to Clamperl biologically. And then Mother of Pearl leading to Parasitoid Egg Laying.

On the plus side I did enjoy turning my Reception into a video game save point a la The Evil Within.
