I’d rather both too but if I had to choose one I’d prefer the option that’s scalable, though it does rely on palpable investment in bus lines which seems to be a non starter.

I think bikes are valuable to extend range but am somewhat confused as to why the focus has been to add bike lanes when dedicated bus lanes would be so much more of a scalable solution (and could also be used by bikes).

“Why don’t kids walk to school anymore?”

Because they can’t. Safe infrastructure and dense neighborhood’s are necessary. Community schools have been closed and centralized, in part because the low density housing surrounding them became unaffordable.

It’s time we gave pedestrians and cyclists real consideration at intersections. Driving is the ultimate convenience, the least we can do is give other forms of transportation priority alongside cars rather than always defaulting to vehicles.

Prioritizing the existing street car network would be huge too

Garden sweets don’t go nearly far enough. 4-5 story walk ups need to be made as of right in consort with mixed use development along or near existing transit corridors if meaningful change is going to be made.

Possibly a bit of a holdover from parking minimums. The idea that everyone living in one is going to drive so there has to be “enough” parking and outlets for the imagined traffic.
There’s also a lack of focus and direction with developers working in a vacuum rather than as part of a master plan.

For too long speed limits have been looked at as the “minimum” it’s time to change that narrative and speed cameras are apart of that.

I think “filler” episodes have hit the chopping block because of the bad rap bad examples get. Although a more likely reason is because it takes a well written/produced script to make them feel like a cohesive part of the story.

Edmonton counsel is currently reviewing a similar project that has been ongoing, albeit under a little more scrutiny from detractors. Hopefully they don’t fold to to naysayers and keep up the infill!

I mean sometimes simpler language doesn’t hurt when it comes to messaging. I came across “parochial” in the high cost of free parking recently and had to look it up lol

Starter housing is often forgotten about in today’s market which is strange since there’s more demand than ever.

10M hardly makes sense to add a single connection from a low density suburb to a low density shopping center that’s built on an island and is probably a pedestrian nightmare in itself. This is why allowing mixed use medium density development is so important.

Another problem is that they are only exploring solutions that won’t interrupt “vehicle flow”. The “best” solution solution is to install a pedestrian friendly crossing at the 158NWAve intersection where vehicles already stop at a set of lights.

Making civil disobedience cheaper, as long as it affects motorists.
