Prolonged a tradition by going on a football-themed run during @FB_Collective conference. Ran to a mural celebrating Patrick O'Connell, former Belfast Celtic player who played important role at Barcelona in 1930s.

When I got to my office, it looked like the lizard from Barcelona's Parc Güell was about to eat its way through a series of French presidents. De Gaulle looked to be particularly at risk.

Enjoyed another visit to the National Football Museum in Manchester this week, especially their exhibition Black in the Game. It tells a fascinating story of the history of players of black heritage in UK football.

I'm watching coverage of Monaco against Nice. These were the two closest together teams in Ligue 1 before Paris FC were promoted last season and moved into a stadium across the road from Paris Saint-Germain.

Made some lemon sorbet while watching Strasbourg against Marseille last night. I think I did pretty well to get into the Stade de la Meinau with all the ingredients, a stove and a mini freezer.

Last week, I was in Paris for a research workshop entitled 'Manhood in the Métropole: Representing Masculinities in Contemporary French Culture'. I talked about images of masculinity in French sports films. It was great to hear so many fascinating presentations by fellow participants.
