@pglux.bsky.social But this too is bollocks. They're not actually doing work most days. Organise it like a normal railway - only impose the blockade when you need to do works!

@redjives You have to do track work whenever it suits SNCF to do track work. That means more or less any time other than 6am-9am and 5pm-8pm when SNCF employees need to get to and from work.

It makes total sense.

@mjr Oh it's rare to get a bus. They reason no one takes public transport outside of peak hours anyway. There was even a case recently when Mulhouse station was closed for a whole weekend - and that's a city! - and they provided no buses. To the annoyance of the Swiss as it's close to Basel.

@hugh I think it is simply - in Germany anyway - that as ovens have become more efficient, you just no longer need it, so it is no longer built into new flats. I am not aware of any explicit reason.

@hugh it’s getting rarer in Germany for ovens. Modern Berlin flats didn’t have it.

@hugh Sure. And if this had been Germany to a neighbouring country (other than France) it likewise would have been fine. This obviously needs an EU wide framework. CER is opposed though.

And here is one way that ex-Thalys Eurostar is MUCH better than SNCF

Last week I needed a Eurostar different to the planned one. Explained to the train manager, was let on in seconds.
