I can only speak for boxing but ideally choose a gym or school where they have a least one sparring session a week. It doesn't have to be hard sparring, light body sparring works just fine

(1/2) If you're an ethnic, religious or gender minority or a leftist in general involved in direct action I strongly recommend learning some form of combat sport. Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai are all good choices, anything where your technique is pressure tested.

It's funny how many people are sweeping for Tate with the whole 'He got in the ring' schtick.
Like.. yeah.. he's a professional fighter, and when you're a professional fighter you lose your access to the 'you tried' rosette. You perform or you dont and if you dont you get critique. That's the deal.
