Because the “math” being sold by the White House is a lie. They want you to believe events emerge from a fog of personnel chaos, accidental missteps, or meritocratic review. But the real math—the only honest math—begins with the correct prior: a regime defined by racial animus, grievance politics, and the selective sacrifice of expendable minorities to protect the white ideological core. From that starting point, the Patel outcome ceases to be improbable. It becomes predictable. If he is fired, it will not be a random draw from a fair deck—it will be the expected output of a system whose governing algorithm is racism disguised as law, and loyalty disguised as professionalism. Others may be surprised. I won’t be. The numbers have been telling us the truth from the beginning.

In the end, Spaniel’s analysis is a reminder that fancy degrees and a YouTube channel don’t automatically equate to wisdom. Insight in war demands empathy, on-the-ground context, historical sense, and yes, sometimes moral courage to call things as they are. Spaniel’s work so far has shown little of these qualities. Until he acquires them, his commentary will remain low-quality and suspect — an ivory-tower exercise in map-drawing, rather than a source of real strategic illumination. The tragedy is that many will continue to be misled by it. The hope is that more people will start to see through the façade and seek out analysts who get it right — who put truth and principle above ego and sales. As it stands, William Spaniel has not earned that trust. He’s gotten it wrong too many times, and there is no credential that can excuse that.

From within that arc, the leak is not a curiosity to be pondered. It is exactly what you would predict: the moment when someone with the technical ability to do so decides that the only way to stop a traitor-general—someone functionally betraying the cause of Ukrainian survival and Western security—is to show the world what he is doing in his own voice. You do not have to adopt my moral language. But if you claim to be doing game theory, you do have to honor the basic discipline: treat the leak as one move in a long game, not a single freak event floating in ahistorical space. That is the lesson you keep missing. The leaked call is not the first we have seen of Witkoff. It is merely the first time those who have been trying to warn you released the tape to prove it.

An analyst who looks at that structure and announces that the real lesson is “see, Trump must not be that compromised, because Russia still has to flatter him” has vacated the field. Call it what you like—intellectually unserious, strategically blind—but the non-technical assessment is such: Spaniel continues to act like a fucking idiot. And anyone who takes his word is being led away from the truth and at the exact moment the traitorous system finally slipped up and showed you what it really is.

Spaniel is a capable explainer of game-theory diagrams and bargaining ranges in contexts where the principal is at least trying to pull in the direction of national interest. But here he is grading undergraduate essays in a burning building and still pretending the smoke is just bad ventilation. That is why the timing matters. When it takes this long for someone to even acknowledge the obvious dysfunction, and when he still refuses to anchor that dysfunction in President Trump’s alignment with Kremlin interests, he is no longer just “behind the curve.” He is normalizing a pro-Kremlin operation as if it were one more clumsy attempt at diplomacy. That is not serious analysis; it is an attractive anesthetic at the exact moment people need to be fully awake.

So yes—please continue attacking Kelly and the video. Keep calling it sedition when someone reminds the troops that their oath is to the Constitution. Keep threatening FBI interviews and Pentagon investigations over a legally correct, ninety-second civics lesson. You are not making Mark Kelly smaller. You are proving exactly why people like him are needed, and you are telling the rest of us something we must not forget: When reminding soldiers to follow the law is treated as treason, the danger is not the soldiers and not the law. The danger is the regime that fears both.

Warburg is right on the essential point: this is not a long war. Not yet. It is a war that will almost certainly run on the scale of a decade. The question is whether Ukraine spends that decade slowly bleeding under artificially constrained Western support, or whether the West finally aligns its policy with the empirical reality Warburg is describing — accepting that a long war is not a bug but the necessary price of defeating a revanchist empire without provoking a wider cataclysm. Those who still promise a short war, or who demand that Ukraine submit because three years “feels” too long, cannot be trusted with that decision. They have already shown you that their horizon is not history, not structure, not victory, and certainly not Ukrainian statehood. It is their own comfort.

The Comey and James decisions are early symptoms that the body politic is beginning to recover its immune response.
