Went to see the Christmas lights at Blenheim Palace. All rather lovely.

All Doctor Who stories should end with this exact exchange.

The Avengers - 'The Cybernauts'

Pre 'The Tenth Planet' by a year & featuring a robot-creating scientific madman in a wheelchair, this feels v close to Who - cast: Bernard Horsfall, Michael Gough, Fredrick Jaeger, Burt Kwouk, Ronald Leigh-Hunt reinforces this.

Also: Emma does judo in her civvies.

The Avengers 'Too Many Christmas Trees'

Dipping into the paranormal with disturbing dream sequences, a horrifying Santa, Dickensian cosplay and psychic warrior types.

And, of course, the Christmas card from Mrs Gale - "What can she be doing at Fort Knox?"

Everyone enjoys it when TNG riffs on the Original Series

I think we may need to stop Christmas jumpers.

THE AVENGERS - 'Dial A Deadly Number'

A high point overlapping Cathy & Emma eras. Sparkling script by Roger Marshall: finance, office gadgets & wine tasting. Steed nearly offed via pocket watch, Mrs Peel in the leather catsuit for the 1st time, Peter Bowles taken out with a champagne cork.
Cheers!

If by some miracle you're still awake at 12.40am (Boxing Day morning) BBC 2 is screening AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (1971)

In case of poor Christmas Day programming emergency, prep accordingly.

ST:TNG- 'Reunion'

And season 4 is where TNG starts to mine its own history - in 7 eps we've had: the Borg, Picard's history and brother, Worf's mum and dad, the return of the Traveller, Tasha Yar's sister, Data's dad and brother, Worf's ex, his exile from the Klingon Empire, and Worf's son.

Watching the commentary of The Avengers 'Town of No Return', with Brian Clemens and Roy Ward Baker where they keep insisting things are being shot on location and they're very clearly sets and back projection.

10 years since Heaven Sent. I should rewatch it really cos the overwhelmingly positive fan reaction put me at odds with my own opinion (it’s not half as clever or romantic as it thinks it is) and I preferred the two eps either side of it.

‘The Hybrid’ though. 🙄

So my sister bought a house in Spain and inherited this, which now belongs to my son. A 6ft scale model of the Titanic.

The older I get the more I identify with Drathro. Stuck in middle management, having to work with people much younger than him, frustrated with his limitations.

Adumbrating two typical instances from separate epistopic interfaces of the spectrum (the alternate edits I’ve not done before)
