Another quiet if brighter morning. A silent blackbird silhouetted against the sky at the top of the ivy. #FirstBirdofMyDay

If we still have a dunnock, it keeps quiet and skulls in the hedge. It is too cold to sit by the window and keep watch. Blackbird flew and alarm called, then clucked crossly predawn once again, then for the first time, broke into song. Does it sense the turn of the year. #FirstBirdofMyDay

A funny thing seen in the way to the office ? I don't remember the bill being so massive, but only seen in tree tops long ago. Oslo ski jump and deep in Polish woods. An oversize starlingbdaub with a kindergarten paint brush.

Many shades of grey.
Grey with a shadow of blue sky
Over silver black wet roofs
Deep bottle grey privet and ivy hedge
I just glimpse a slight movement of a graphite grey blackbird.
Has someone got the sun.

Got to love a lapwing. Do they really have humped backs? I will have to look more closely irl. Painted by"Jan" one of my grandpa's maths pupils in 1972.

Indeed wonderful. Not seen the garden robin for a while. The front blackbird was alarm calling well before 6 and went on for a while before ending with a burst of cluckles #FirstBirdofMyDay

That is a lovely snow scene.

You can kind of see why the lay observer might say what I'd that pink and bright blue parrot in my garden.

It has been a busy day. Two magpies flew close, almost eye level from the open bedroom window, a robin singing in the distance, almost lost in the damp roar from the M1 across the valley. #FirstBirdofMyDay

A treecreeper calling in the park and climbing up a tree before flying earthwards to do it all again on the next tree.

I said ptarmigan as the partridge is white and the profile made me think of one.
