I want more density, more services, and higher taxes. Where do I fit in this diagram?

It’s possible to invest all one’s life (thinking, creating, social, earning — and a total commitment to education & teaching) into a university, without living for university approval.

I personally don’t agree. Going to work (school for a teacher) feels like the absolute right thing to do. But, as described in the thread, students are just not there. They are absent, disconnected, distracted, unengaged, incurious, unaware, and in many other ways, missing. It is shocking and sad

The original post and thread is describing normal daily life as a teacher. It is not a facade. It is life every day.

I teach creative visual communication. In recent years: Attendance is under 50%. Deadlines are rarely met, even with extensions. Work outside class is extremely rare. Projects that should take dozens of hours are completed in 2 or 3. Assignment requirements and creative prompts are an inconvenience…

While I was in high school, my mom woke up to find someone sleeping on our couch. She was drunk and thought it was her house. It was a funny story, we still laugh about today.

First time I had to carry a key with me was when I moved into a university dorm.

No house keys, the house was never locked

I’m exactly three months into an attempt to go a full year without buying anything non-consumable. I’m definitely not buying anything tomorrow 😂

Dear @cnn.com ;

He has been verbally abusing female reporters with similar (and worse) language since his 1st campaign began in 2015, throughout his 1st term, during his 2nd campaign, and continuing into this 2nd term. Why are you just now reporting as if the NYT made some kind of new discovery?

It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, and they’ve already offered a decent contract to one awesome, fun to watch player! And he signed! Most years that doesn’t happen until… well, never.
November 27, 2025 at 2:38 AM
I tried to write that they’d invest in a player if they could own him outright as property and if his value would appreciate at 8-10% per year (or if he was guaranteed to breed equally valuable children whom they would also own), but I ran out of room.

Bet if they could outright own Dylan Cease as their property, the way they own Wrigley Field and all the other buildings in the neighborhood, they would have matched that offer

And here it is, early this year, the annual reminder that the Cubs are not an organization that will ever pay top salaries to top players. They are a corporate property management company who will invest in the property they own, to build their own long-term wealth, rather than employee salaries
