Grumpy dad. Music food and grump.
Watching Trousdale at Thekla in Bristol. Stood about five foot from the band and listening to the best harmonies I've ever heard live in my life.

Tune of the day, Eddie Floyd's version of Bring It On Home To Me. Oh so sweet.

Am I the only one this happens to?:

New headphones, for about a month I don't like them, things sound wrong. Then one day I put them on and everything sounds great and I love them. Today is that day.

(Is it my brain or something technical?)

Talking of overly familiar songs this sounded amazing today.

Tune of the afternoon, What's My Scene by Hoodoo Gurus. Top tune!

Oooh If I Could Only Be Sure by Nolan Porter. Tune. Weller's version is actually pretty good but this is sublime.

Bit of early morning playing with an organ

First song I learned to play on guitar. Thanks dad!

Dancing on the platform at Paddington Lizzie Line to this.

Oddly momentous day. Got banned from X in November, apparently I was behaving like a bot, despite having 15 years of posts including a massive amount of personal info. Finally deleted the app today. Feels kind of weird, but its been strangely liberating getting away from all the shit posted there.

Another overly familiar tune sounding fresh today.

The Fleur De Lys, underrated 60s Mod band. And this is great.

One of my favourite intros ever. And probably my favourite Temptations song.

(But only my second favourite version of this song. Hi Al!)

A prime example of what I think of as Mod Jazz. Very groovy.

Sometimes a song that is so familiar sounds brand new to me. Today its this.

Here's one for the Mods today. The Action doing Martha Reeves In My Lonely Room.

(Weller fans might recognize the guitar riff in the intro...)

In a Booker T & The MGs mood today. This is my favourite of theirs, Carnaby Street. Which was a Small Faces tribute, that apparently blew the Faces away and inspired Tin Soldier in return.

Drops Of God on Apple TV: absolutely loving this, a French/Japanese story of the wine industry. Based on a manga apparently and very beautiful to look at, and also in three different languages so between the visuals and the subtitles you have to watch rather than put on in the background.

Watched The Life Of Chuck tonight. Suspect it will be one of my top films of the year. One scene in particular - you'll know exactly which one if you've seen it - is one of my favourite things for a long time.

A beautiful film that reminds me of ripples on a pond.

On a drive and the boy (16) took over the music. So far its been The Jam and The Clash non stop. No DNA test needed.

Just watched the best film I've seen this year, His Three Daughters, on Netflix. About three sisters waiting for their father to die. Beautifully written, acted and directed right to the last line.

At a gig for an up and coming local singer songwriter and the pre gig music is all sorts of folk rock, lots of Fairport style guitars and drones and fiddles. Not sure what I'm in for.

Really loving the latest Wolf Alice album. Its a lot less 'indie', more widescreen and sounding like they've been digging back into classic pop and somgwriter music. Even leaning into country rock in places. And while that makes it sound like they're heading into dadrock territory it sparkles.
