Xu Qinxian, a Chinese major general in the People's Liberation Army, became known for refusing to carry out orders to use military force against demonstrators in Beijing during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.

He was executed.

Hegseth has already ID'd and removed any commanders with principles.

Sometimes I toy with them for light entertainment and oppo research.

China has public health insurance that covers 1.25 billion people.

If America can't/won't do that, is Western capitalism better than China-style State Capitalism?

Seriously.

We have media run by a dozen billionaires, censoring criticism of the Dear Leaders, and a growing homeless crisis.

Imaginary conversation between White House staffer & Trump:

"No sir, I don't think the video is racist. It's hilarious! The Obama's aren't depicted as apes because they're black, but because they're Democrats. Classic comedy!

But we should still take it down and lie about who posted it."

Trump won in 2016, in large part because so many older Dems and independents went MAGA.

Dem leadership should have went left, to re-engage leftists who were alienated by Wall St neolibs. That would have prevented Trump 2.0

They chose to inflict that on us, because now they never have to move left.

Aileen Cannon is a hyper-MAGA Trump appointee. Why didn't she recuse herself in the Ryan Routh case?

Why does the judicial system give jurists the latitude to decide for themselves if there is a conflict of interest?

The man is mentally ill and should be institutionalized.

So is Ryan Routh.

An angry young man made a gun and murdered a former PM.

The fallout included an investigation of a cult that had ties to several high ranking lawmakers.

Now, the courts are going to ban the cult.

Only in Japan or South Korea.

In the West, there would have been no investigation.

Why is Bitcoin crashing? There are a lot of theories. Here's another: crypto wallets don't bear interest.

While corrupt politicians & traffickers may always have uses for crypto exchanges, the digital yuan is more useful for day to day transnational crime.

As Trump turns America into a mindless brute in the eyes of the world, expect China to adopt more soft-power policies.

I anticipate that Beijing will begin providing a lot of disaster relief, etc in the Western sphere of influence.

Especially in Latin America.

(not in Asia, though)

How many people have died because they couldn't activate mechanical door handles in an emergency?

Conservatively speaking, hundreds.

State capitalism moves at a glacial pace, but its path can't be manipulated by a few lobbyists with millions of dollars to spend on Senate campaigns.

On a small scale, there are AC systems that run all night to freeze a massive block of ice, which acts as a heatsink all day.

On a larger scale, there are many more technologies.

But it's all very pricey. Govts have less and less to spend and the oligarchy isn't footing the bill either.
Moving more electricity use off-peak could save the country up to $3 billion and transform the energy system in the process.

The study found New Zealand could, through fully exploiting modern technologies, lower electricity use at the busiest times by up to 25%.

The smart, tech savvy son of a wealthy merchant/investor, who stole the work of many contemporaries -such as Nikola Tesla- in order to own the radio patent.

Remind you of anyone? (Tesla is one clue. Nikola is another)

Representative democracy is designed to give commoners the impression that they run their govt.

The capital-class runs things.

But putting down revolts is expensive. Both in terms of paying some of the workers to kill the others and in lost productivity.

The Founding Fathers had a better way.

I don't trust TikTok, Larry Ellison or any tech firm.

That said, no social media is going to stop you from uploading a video because they don't like the subject.

If it's CSAM, terrorism or the like, they'll report you and delete account.

But mostly they "shadow ban".

Yes, it really is a thing.

What can I say about the perfect biscuit?

Don't use one fat, mix 2. Butter & lard or shortening work well.

You can only get proper biscuit flour in the South.

Failing anything with "Lily" in the name, use AP flour. (I do & it's fine)

Chill the fat & liquid.

AVOID OVERWORKING THE DOUGH.
