"SHMEE, HELP ME, I AM ATTEMPTING TO COMMIT SUICIDE!!" is an all time great line delivery, and also kind of crazy to put into a kids film

The Greens are the only ones I can imagine having a blow up over which brand of grape juice to use at the Eucharist.

Wait, no, got it, going Anglican is joining the Lib-Dems, joining the Greens is turning Methodist.
December 1, 2025 at 12:57 AM
In this analogy, is becoming high church Anglican closer to leaving Labour for the Lib-Dems or the Greens?

Final scene of Leopoldstadt lightly mocks/caricatures Leo, the one family member to escaped to England at 8 very much assimilated into a Stoppard-like young Englishman. “You live as if without history, as if you throw no shadow behind you", his cousin Nathan, the one to survive Auschwitz tells him.

Post 7 yrs but pre 12 used to be prime time for Cartoon Network, the weirder Nickelodeon shows, and bad anime dubs. Weird demographic to make media for, bc your not quite to Adult Swim levels of obscenity, but Goof Troop doesnt quite cut it anymore

Yeah, I only asked was bc its going to be a lot easier for them to subvert the military court system than the civilian. They already purged the top of all the general counsel offices, so anyone left to do the prosecuting might themself be compromised or tainted.

Quick question, under ideal circumstances, do you think this would go through the military or civilian court?

Try the Jane Hotel! They offer these tiny single bed rooms with shared showers, but you can get them for a hundred dollars a night in the middle of Manhattan

Dronkey the kind of shit Herodotus wouldve been like, "Out in the deserts of Nubia, there have been reports of a creature that is half donkey and half dragon. Such a creature is only birthed when the donkey is male, and the dragon a Lady Dragon..."

Dad Trek, but your dad worked in the DMV, and he just discovered gay people exists. Hes on the whole supportive, but he still gets a lot of basic stuff wrong. Voted for Dole, will later switch to a Partisan Dem sometime between Kerry and Obama 2

The more generous system that existed before Clinton axed it, maybe?

It very much benefits from being a philosophical school that emerged after the Scientific Method was kind of worked out. Hume's kind of close to it, but otherwise "Eh, lets just see what people do with it," was kind of novel in the late 19th Century

This is where my ability to distinguish positivism and empiricism and pragmatism is really a problem. Pragmatists basically take any given belief system as a Whole, AND then look at its real world effects to understand it.

Anyways, "Varities of Religous Experience" by William James is an all timer, both in its content but also its prose. Its really worth reading!!
November 26, 2025 at 7:15 AM
This is different from Silicon Valley rationalism, which is...much, much less concerned with what other people might believe, to put it bluntly
November 26, 2025 at 7:12 AM
The way I would describe it is that Pragmatists generally take the internal functionimg of a belief system very seriously. This is why it became the house style of (at the time) progressive anthropologists, i.e. any religous system is an outgrowth of the socities they come from.

Get in bro, the water is...okay, we cant make any decision about how hot the water is until we can see what the effect of the waters temperature is on bathers, BUT DONT WORRY, the Pragmatists are on the case!!

"Derrida is a pragmatist," I say, as I vanish into the air like a maliscious pixie
