Brilliant, thanks.

I remember my headmaster ranting about H Rap Brown in school assembly.

Thanks Nicole. That's Sally's fault. (-:

I spend a lot of time on X.

There's a genuine split opening up in MAGA right now.

A lot of defections. I'm sure there will be more soon.

As Aesop wrote:

This bundle of sticks you can’t break.
Take them singly, and with ease
You may break them as you please.

Thus we need to reform information ownership as well as decision-making.

And civic education. And money in politics. And a few other things—in a package of mutually supporting reforms.
November 14, 2025 at 10:07 AM
For example, if you introduce direct democracy—& leave the ownership of information unreformed—the media & social media companies will work night & day to convince 51% of the public that direct democracy is terrible, & should be repealed.

'Civic education!'

Sure—but it need to be holistic.

You'd need a suite of reforms including direct democracy (et al).

Single reforms are *fragile*.

Thus my focus on reinventing democracy, not on trying to stop war per se.

This is a dark time, but it may be the darkness before the dawn

#Democratisation = many birds, 1 stone

4. The tools for democratic change—for taking power from our remote, unaccountable elites & putting it in the hands of the demos—are in use in nearly every country, & have been highly successful.

Used more widely, we could be out of this mess.

2. The world is manifestly messed up

3. Everyone *perceives* that the world is messed up

(In a quick global survey, the only ones who spoke as if everything’s great are Kier Starmer, Donald Trump, Ursula von der Leyen + some guy in Africa who's coming out of a malarial fever...)

I now suspect that #DeliberativeDemocracy is about to really take off, & may (wild guess) start to take over some governance work from the failing representative system.
November 7, 2025 at 12:24 PM
Yes, that day seems to be getting closer.

I've just spent 3 months on LinkedIn - a bit staid, but I have discovered thousands of democratic reformers there from round the world.

When I was in my 20s (40y before I knew I was autistic) I used to tell everyone I suffered from a rare condition called "Wrong Planet Syndrome".

Now others have arrived at the same phrase.

I guess it's a no-brainer.

I suspect the biggest change will come in how we are governed.

(My guess = a hybrid of #DeliberativeDemocracy, #DirectDemocracy & representative democracy. And that the burden of governance will shift over time toward the first two.)

Right now, speculation about the next 20 years is focused entirely on the revolutions in economics, geopolitics & technology.
November 6, 2025 at 12:31 AM
And media & social media cartels (information capture).

With the alternatives now on offer, it's only a matter of time before the first nation makes the leap from the failed, capturable representative system to something much better.
