Thinking about taxes a lot given Tax Day is coming soon - what would we need to do from a revenue perspective to close the deficit? Would Clinton era taxes be enough?

We spent billions of dollars to put Putin’s nuts in a vice and Ukraine had proper leverage. All to be given away by a capricious and corrupt Trump

Quick summary of the German elections - CDU wins ✔️ but needs a coalition, no one will work with AfD 🎉, AfD will “work” with anyone 🙄, SPD won’t work with CDU 🤷‍♂️, CDU won’t work with the Greens and certainly not with Die Linke…

So how’s this gonna work?

Isn’t the whole point of bullying to pick one person out of the crowd.

Shouldn’t Trump’s tariffs bully their targets into working together around the US?

Great move! I don’t want to fund all those betas in the south who can’t even fight off a hurricane with their bare hands.

We’ll see how viable Florida and Texas are without massive disaster subsidies 😂

Watching inauguration - clergy talking about Trump and their hopes for the future.

(1) it’s like they are talking about a completely different person
(2) Trump’s and Vance’s political beliefs would have disgusted Jesus
(3) this is disingenuous bullshit that makes people hate the political system

The voice of the oligarchs pretending to care for the common man: “Washington, he said, was also a relative bargain for them. “If you want to buy a home in New York or Southampton, it could cost $100 million to $150 million,” he said. “You can’t spend $25 million in Washington even if you try.””

Now that holiday gifting season is over, I’m proud of myself because:

(1) like 2 gifts total came from Amazon
(2) most of my gifts came from local businesses in Chicago
(3) my giving was far more intentional
(4) my gifting extended to build my community

Feeling good about moving away from Amazon.

I think the most insidious message from the last 50 years is “we should run the government like a business.”

But govt is not business, govts have mandates to serve all their residents. Making them “efficient” usually results in means-testing, bad service, overworked staff, etc.

DOGE = bad for you
Elon Musk says DOGE probably won't find $2 trillion in federal budget cuts
Musk previously said his Department of Government Efficiency would be able to recommend cuts to the federal budget of “at least $2 trillion.”
