🚨We analyzed 138 million geocoded property tax records to quantify how municipal boundaries spatially overlap onto economic segregation in every US metro area—creating disparities in localities’ ability to fund public goods. And we made an interactive map of our results! [1/16]

From @theathletic.com: When the camera shows Father Pete, the Notre Dame student section loses its collective mind. The invitation to Mass doesn’t interrupt the football game; it’s organically become part of the ceremony.
What makes Notre Dame students go wild during home games? Father Pete’s call to Mass
From the confessional to the DJ booth, he seems to be everywhere all the time, exactly when he’s needed.

The neighbors did this, but if @boston.gov, @wutrain.bsky.social, @ben4district6.bsky.social and others were serious about affordable housing in Boston they would do more to not let it happen.
People in my "progressive" neighborhood NIMBY'd a *senior affordable housing development* into reducing its units from 71 to 41. Just an absolute moral travesty. (Rogerson/Beaufort project in JP)

Sadly, based on tonight's meeting, local NIMBYs got the number of units cut nearly in half and @boston.gov @mayorwu.boston.gov are unwilling to push back in support of needed affordable housing. www.universalhub.com/2024/135-aff...

Legal academics: I am trying to decide whether it is worth the effort to develop and maintain a personal academic website. Questions: 1. do you have one?; 2. why do you think it valuable; 3. examples of sites you think are great; 4. services for creating/hosting/whatever you recommend?

Why do sentences like this keep getting written @bostonglobe.com : "Developers and planners often argue that new supply will ease the housing crunch, but Lees isn’t convinced unit counts alone will solve the problem." The words "ease" & "solve" differ in meaning. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/20/r...

A good letter generally, but not sure about the line in paragraph 4: "The United States Constitution established that local governments . . . " The US Constitution says nothing about local governments. The authority local governments have regarding public safety is delegated by the states.
Last week, Boston received a letter from AG Bondi threatening to prosecute officials and withhold funds unless we cooperate with carrying out mass deportations.

The US Attorney General asked for a response by today, so here it is: stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures.
