Just blew it... take two coming up! But yeah, it's fun.

Good luck!

By now I've mellowed out a bit since grad school: I have more friends, and I'm more relaxed and happier, especially since I'm married.

BUT, I'm now going to make a video about the Standard Model while my wife goes out to a pub... because I've been falling behind. 😳

So, academia is getting punished for the irresponsibility of the academics, but unfortunately - as usual - the least powerful bear the brunt of it: the students, the adjuncts... the very last to be punished may be the university presidents.

Very nice looking notes!

Yeah, I rarely went to parties in grad school. True, nobody invited me. But that's because I didn't hang out with folks much - I was trying to learn as much math and physics as possible! On Fridays I went to a philosophy discussion group at a cafe.

It was very convenient for us to let the administrators do the boring work and hire adjuncts to teach the "boring" courses while we do research, but gradually the adminstrators took over and started bossing us around and replacing *us* with adjuncts. Whoops!

Heh - from back when I was trying to be an "analyst", and I don't mean psychoanalyst, while secretly thinking about quantum gravity and not getting anywhere.

Music scholar Peter Wollny has been thinking about these manuscripts for 30 years. No need to rush it: he wanted to be sure these were by Bach.

It looks like the fossil fuel lobbyists have taken over the process.

The quote might be true, given how many mathematicians try to pretend they are pure minds, far from anything animal or even human... but it's not anything *good*.

I'm starting to interview people, and I'll need to get better at playing dumb. I'm not very comfortable doing it, because for years I've been playing smart.

Fossils fuels are perfectly fine as long as you don't burn them.

Yes. But is it *trivially* trivially trivial?

I hate the establishment too - except when they fawn over me.

The structure of quantum mechanics doesn't violate any principles of relativity.

Yes, I agree. It's hard to care too much about things that are made to seem too abstract and complex for mere mortals.

Let's face it, practically nobody cares about math. The "queen and handmaiden of the sciences" is washing lots of dishes for minimum wage.

Unfortunately they don't quote the most inflammatory things Krauss wrote to Epstein.
