The last line was respect . Reiterations of a faith make me wary, especially if writings state themselves to be the last word of said faith.

That is the way it should be. Don't let others dictate how to interpret the Bible, and don't cherry pick in order to change the word to fit ones agenda.
Being atheist myself, I must say that I appreciate your adherence to the writings and not someone whom tells you what to believe.
