They’re eligible but choose not to.

I’m in the same spot - eligible Oct 2026. More annoying than that, I was here for 3 years that didn’t count from 2018-2011. This is just such a gut punch

I know we aren’t really a priority because we don’t vote, but as a Skilled Worker visa holder today has been exceptionally depressing, not least due to the language used about us and our contributions

That’s encouraging. I’m a skilled worker visa holder eligible for ILR in October ‘26 so today has been a real gut punch

I think you’ve got the hook for a great story here. I hope to see it in Bloomberg next week

As an American who moved to the UK in 2018, the Brexit vibes are strong. Under the hood there’s a lot of niche rightwing policy hobby horses with a veneer of populism on top and many folks didn’t realize they were actually voting to make themselves structurally poorer and more isolated.

As an American abroad I’ve been telling friends and fam back home this and I’ve gotten a “oh yeah we’re so embarrassing” response. What I’ve tried to explain is how much angrier ppl are in Trump II and it’s less of a “ha ha what a clown show” than anger, betrayal, disappointment

That’s who conducts the study, not who they survey

I visited China this summer and even locals commented that suddenly they were on every corner. They had a McFlurry like thing that was pretty darn good!

It’s an inversion of the refrain that “Israel has no right to exist”

Honestly, AI would’ve come up with a much more coherent and interesting op-ed on its first try than this.

Need an SMU/PSU one pleaseee
December 12, 2024 at 3:26 PM
Is this by CSA or MSA?
December 11, 2024 at 10:23 PM
Yeah during my time at SMU I picked up many tickets. UPPD, HPPD, DPD, and SMUPD have overlapping jurisdiction on campus which means it’s a nightmare for traffic stops.

FWIW although the primary campus is in University Park, SMU owns 20-ish acres across Hwy 75 on the East Campus in Dallas proper

We haven’t really ever had a “rivalry week” game - at least not while we were in CUSA or the American - as TCU is the only school we really care about and that game is always in September.
December 2, 2024 at 9:18 AM
SMU’s mailing address is Dallas and the East campus buildings are Dallas city limits.

Is this not emblematic - at least in part - of the Erza Klein theory of everything bagel liberalism?

I feel like we’re both thriving in the ACC. Stanford 😬. Sounds like you have family in town for advice but please don’t hesitate to DM if you’d like any advice of places to eat, etc. near campus.

Enjoy your time at SMU! I know we’re supposed to be rivals but I’ve loved Cal’s presence this year so it makes it hard for me to cheer against y’all!

Glad you enjoyed your visit and I hope your time Bourlvarding was fun!

In the interest of fairness 9 lost to 19 but with half the game with our old QB
