She convinced Reagan to let them put the AIDS Memorial Quilt on the National Mall and even sewed a square in honor of someone she knew who passed away. Her colleagues warned her that her AIDS advocacy would damage her career and basically told them to f*ck off. She's a baddie.

OMG. Also I recently read about her advocacy for people with HIV/AIDS in the early days of the AIDS crisis and I was floored. People who stuck their necks out for the community back then are absolute angels in my book.
