Great to be at the @esaBICch Demo Day, enjoying @Dr_ThomasZ‘s introductory remarks on entrepreneurship and looking forward to the highlights of the past year by Nanja Strecker. #swiss #space #ecosystem

The Magic Highlighter: A nice little Safari Extension from @herdworks – highlights search keywords on target pages when opening search links. I only wish it had a “toggle” for un-/highlighting *all* keywords at once besides the keyword-per-keyword. ☺️

🎉😊🥳 Just discovered that @NoemaMag has now additional metadata in their HTML that seems to fix this. Thanks for having done so! Both the web saver and iOS App from @zotero get the relevant data now! ☺️🙏🥳🎉 (/cc @GoodFolkAgency I guess)

Here’s an example how it could (should? 😉) be.

Although title and abstract are found, relevant metadata like author and date which can be found in the page are obviously missing in the HTML header, or are presented in a form that’s not compliant w/ one of the metadata standards that exist (DC being the obvious one). 😢

“It turns out, however, that [promises] are absolutely everywhere.” Mark Burgess, Thinking in Promises It’s worth considering this perspective in everyday matters and not just from a software engineering one. Once you start to see them (promises, that is), you can’t unsee this.

“Unlike traditional, frozen, ‘set them and forget them’ business goals, OKRs are living, breathing organisms.” (John Doerr, Measure What Matters) and thus–despite any such systems’ imperfections–much better able to represent current vs. future state of the system they’re modeling

“It’s a little disconcerting being accelerated, turned inside out, and then sucked into an alternate dimension where everything you were sure was true is wrong. Or worse, irrelevant.” Tiago Forte, The Throughput Of Learning, https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2017/01/31/the-throughput-of-learning/

So true on many levels—and particularly fitting in these Pandemic times: Albert Camus on “weariness” and how it can be the spark that lights (more) consciousness: “Weariness […] awakens consciousness and provokes what follows.” – Albert Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus

More goodness from Mark Burgess’ “Thinking in Promises” about the value of autonomy and local information, and how this creates certainty for agents in a system: “Autonomy makes infomation local. This is what brings certainty.”

This is probably most generally true for all kinds of conflicts (and even initially benign relationships): “Two sides may so misunderstand each other’s concept of [conflict] that they end up fighting one another by accident.” – David Kilcullen, The Dragons and the Snakes
