my kids have seen it about five times but I have not seen it at all and only recently realized that it's animated? @lydiakiesling.bsky.social was describing to me what I thought were incredible special effects

can you have them write assignments directed at other people, though, for example the president of the university or op-eds for their hometown newspapers, and grade them complete/incomplete?

overall politely! but honestly! and I took an opportunity very briefly to teach her to read my essay at Boston Review a little more closely

yes, a thesis says what the essay's topic is, a claim says what the argument will show

also telling them they can only make the claim about one thing and then maybe they'll get to read something else in light of that first argument, but it might be a very different aspect of the text (eg. make a local claim about an adjective and the regional arg connects it to stanzaic form)
