Great turnout for Chicago’s Hands Off protest! Got the sense there were a lot of people there who had not attended a protest before. Interesting to see the range of issues being raised as we walked along.

Also worth spending time with Coco Fusco’s video installation Your Eyes Will Be an Empty Void (2021), which commemorates the unclaimed victims of COVID buried in the public cemetery on Hart Island.

Third, Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica, Cauleen Smith (Part of Human_3.0 Reading List, 2015-2016) and Charmaine Spencer (Air, 2024). All worth a long visit.

Lovely day at the Art Institute of Chicago seeing three shows. First, Paula Modersohn Becker (Farmer's Wife, Seated, 1899 and Girl in a Red Dress with a Birch Tree Trunk, 1905). Second, the magnificent weaving of Passamaquoddy artist James Frey (Watchful Spirit, 2022).
