The US is not going to be morally healthier anytime soon. I have sold my pension S&P500 stake. It wasn't much, but would I have been A-OK retiring on profits of an economy actively malign to Ukraine, indifferent to dead Ukrainians? I think fucking not. Have bought UK and EU defence stocks instead.

The USA can no more than Russia tell Ukraine what a deal is. They can make any attempt ugly, distressing, and ultimately a failure, but it is neither practically nor legally in their gift. Europe - and others supporting Ukraine - what is wrong with us that we do not think our voice is as important?
