I'm sad they euthanized the welfare state, but it's pretty great that the One Big Beautiful Bill raised the DSA contribution allowance to $7,500.

If you're a liberal deficit hawk this is probably your moment. Republican in the White House, interest rates and inflation are FUBARed, debt genuinely seems to be out of control.

Imagine how different the Middle East would be if the Romans won at Yarmouk. Instead of constant ethnic conflict between people who hate each other for religious reasons we could have constant ethnic conflict between Greeks who hate each other for inscrutable reasons.

I think people are maybe overreacting to a 10 week CR. I think the government is going to shutdown again right after the holidays.
