Where did you read that? Remember, everyone is trying to sell their own views as truth. Mexico in the late 90s was, perhaps, at its best, which is not saying much, but the current political actors, which are far worse for the country, use those decades for propaganda now.

Trump and Musk have not even started their term and they have already announced their plan to slash budgets and reduce headcounts of every org that could oppose them. They already threatened legislators thqt might vote against them.

Mexico's '4th tranaformation' started by discrediting judges, autonomous electoral organizatins and every org designed to keep the govt in check. Then, with popular support, they started dismantling them or absorbing them into the federal government.

Post-truth mrchanisms are so effective that it is not even necessary to perform a major fraud in elections. They just need to dismantle institutons little by little accussing them of any evil against the post-truther cruasade.

Trump is old but Musk is young and now probably the most powerful human being on earth without an army. Musk is setting himself to be the heir of the dynasty. He has the narrative, the amplifier and the post-truth mechanism to get it done.

Every post-truther tries to perpetuate in power or establish a dynasty. The Bolivarians in Venezuela with Chavez/Maduro, the Kirschners in Argentina, the revolutionaries in Cuba with Castro/Diaz, the 4th transformatoon in Mexico with AMLO/Sheinbaum and now MAGA with Trump/Musk.

Post-truth nations have an unbeatable self-defense mechanism. Since lying is the norm, whenever someone tries to attack its leaders, they can always question the veracity of the attackers claims with more lies, and since everyone lies all the time no one trust anyone claims anymore.
