Pickaxing my way thru the virtualization/orchestration mines since the turn of the century. Playing, mapping, and hosting old FPS games since before then. Lapsed trombonist and vocalist, but still performing (vocal only) on request of certain 5-year-old.
Good reminder. Increased my donation to www.shfb.org

Can't make up the gap left by the ghouls who are withholding SNAP funds, but every little bit helps.

Anyway I guess I recommend it if you like videogame pathfinding, LotR, and/or Minecraft. :-) Haven't checked back in on the server since then but it seems to still be trucking along.

I wasn't checking the server map or anything, just working from remembered book-knowledge. IIRC I got to Rivendell before needing to leave the computer to do something else? It was cool how many realistic(-ish) wayfinding problems I had, knowing a general direction to go but terrain not cooperating.

I’ve been thinking about the show daily since I saw it—his story, the Museum of Modernia, and especially this painting.

Trust is a function of how you view the author(s) of the code.

There are many people and organizations that I would trust to do a good job at creating a secure app.

"Vibe coding" covers a range of code-gen practices that mostly obfuscate the connection between an author and the generated code.

There's a gap between "not trusting any app you didn't write yourself" and "not trusting a vibe-coded app", and we shouldn't conflate the two.

I'm looking forward to getting the new Pebble watch and app, but IMO this is not the best answer to the concern. Almost no Pebble users will have the skills to do a useful security audit, and unusual outgoing network requests are not the only possible issue.
