How about just leaving the oil in the ground

I share the post's frustration! This is sooooo common!!! The number one reason people give for not riding a bike is safety. Countries with good safe bike infrastructure have very high rates of bike riding, countries that overall have very poor bike infrastructure have some of the lowest rates.

Our dogs know the sound of the last piece of tp removed from the roll. They come running for the tube and then tease each other with it. We have concluded that the tubes are glued together with some sort of crack based glue.

This is what we need. We need more of this!

The wealthiest in the world also are the ones that emit the majority of the emissions. These people are the ones I call lazy and I am discussed with.

Interestingly the more we discuss the more we see we actually are in agreement over a lot of things. I completely get it that for some folks some options are not realistic. My disappointment in humanity is that so many who have plenty of options can't be bothered with the slightest inconvenience.

It is called cooking. Our ancestors did it. Take whole foods and cook them so they taste amazing.

I am not rich, worked my whole life, still needing to work in "retirement". But I have found that many of the things that reduce emissions, also save me $$. Like, riding my bike, walk, or take the bus rather than drive a car. Cars are very expensive. So many other options that save $$.

I also agree that folks without a lot of economic power will find it more difficult to reduce their emissions. It is a fact that those folks ALREADY have much lower impacts. The people I call lazy are those with plenty of economic power, and turns out they are the most destructive group.

Appreciate your kind responses.

You are correct that there is a small portion of people that would murder others if not for laws, but the vast majority of people wouldn't murder if there wasn't a law. It is the opposite with reducing environmental impacts.
October 25, 2025 at 12:08 PM
We already have the power to dramatically reduce our emissions. Almost no one is making a serious effort. Is it necessary for the government to make a law against murder for us to not murder? Call a spade a spade, most of us are too lazy and won't give up any comforts.

Until the people show their "leaders" they are willing to make at least some small adjustments to their lives, no significant progress on climate change will be taken by our "leaders".
October 22, 2025 at 10:41 PM
I can give you countless examples of how most people will scream and howl at the slightest inconvenience to address climate change. Hell, we couldn't get most people to wear a simple piece of cloth over their mouth during a global pandemic.
October 22, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Absolutely agree our governments need to stand up to big oil, etc... However, it is crystal clear to me that the reason most governments (such as USA) have been so slow to act is because the voting public has made it clear that they are unwilling to make even small adjustments in their lives.
