Happy 80th Birthday to the great Henry Winkler. I was lucky enough to work with him for a year, and would happily have done so for another decade. (Alas, our show was at CBS which even in 2006 had numbskulls in high places.)
Happy belated birthday as well to Marion Ross, who recently turned 97.

Well said, Mr. Speaker. It’s why I never wear nice clothes to the zoo, because sometimes the monkeys get satirical.

Here's a bit more of Coward's lyric. If you remain stubbornly certain that Coward didn't mean the word gay to imply anything about the singers' sexuality, I'll tamper no further with the delicate fruit of that conviction. But I have some possibly upsetting news for you about Paul Lynde.

I probably read too much into it, as did that silly old queen, the OED.

It was devastating and surreal for us all to get the call from the line producer Maggie Blanc, telling us that David and Lynne were on the first plane. The Advocate asked David Lee to write a tribute, but he was much too upset to meet the deadline so he asked me to do it. Here's what I wrote.

Given his position on cancer vaccines, are we sure that RFK's an actual human and not just 600 tumors in a trench coat?

The first line of my first script ever to be filmed was spoken by Jerry Adler, who played a dyspeptic 1930s film studio head. There was no Google in '93, so he was spared the million questions I’d have asked him if I'd known he stage managed the original My Fair Lady. Farewell to a wonderful actor.

Yes, but if Frasier had been less insufferable, would people have enjoyed all the brutal ways we found to humiliate him?

"My client had no idea her lifelong friend was a cannibal. She was shocked to learn what became of the girls he specified wanting to mentor ('young, fit-but-not-stringy'), girls who, when last seen by Ms. Maxwell, were resting comfortably on non-stick trays, surrounded by carrots and potatoes."

Being a twin I was obsessed with this book and couldn’t wait for the movie. Years later David Hyde Pierce did a play with one of the film’s stars, got me a first edition of the book for my birthday, and had the great lady sign it (exactly 24 years ago today).

Happy 100th Birthday June Lockhart!

Lost In Space debuted when I was 7. I became obsessed with it. I longed to join the Space Family Robinson and have June for a mother. (Lassie reruns confirmed her maternal perfection.) In 1993 I wrote a scene for a round robin script called Sleep With Me.
