To be sure, Richard is *not always there

I would email them, since there's not really a number to call. There is a person, Richard, who is the main overseer. But he's now always there, and it's not managed 24/7. If you have an idea of when you'll be there, hit me up and maybe I can meet you there and show you around. Or I can let him know.

Yes, visits are always welcome. From there, you just sign a form, pay like $30 initially, and after that it's $15 per night. A one-time visit would be free.

There's much darker skies closer to and in Florida panhandle, depending on where you're driving from. But, Chiefland Astro Village has a community field with power, warming room, showers, etc. It also has one of the best private telescope museums in the country! It will soon have a 10" Alvan Clark!

No, Bortle 2ish probably 3. Decent Milky Way; bottom line, it gets the job done for observing and less than 2.5 hour drive from where I live. Good facilities too.

You can find me near Chiefland Astro Village in Chiefland, FL!

I hear you; I have to drive at least 2 hours to get to Bortle 2/3 skies, but it's worth it.

I once played Trivial Pursuit, partnered with a former California Superior Court judge, versus my girlfriend and her mom. We lost on a question related to the 4th Amendment. 😀

I can't wait to visit Green Mount for a number of people buried there.

Indeed! Also, from what I've read, Edwin Booth saved Robert Lincoln from an injury related to a fall--not that he saved him from an oncoming train or near death. I'll dig up the reference, but this story seems to be another example of the "fish caught" growing bigger over the years.

Great question: reading Manhunt by James Swanson drew me to Stewart. Quick research revealed there hadn't been a dedicated piece on him, and going through historical newspapers, I couldn't believe the material I found. What was originally supposed to be an article has turned into a book!
